Medical Malpractice

Failure to Diagnose and Treat Strokes
Mr. Sowers obtained a $1,250,000 verdict after a 10 day trial against a defendant emergency room physician for his failure to properly diagnose numerous strokes.  The defendant had diagnosed the client with vertigo and discharged her from the emergency room with instructions to follow-up with her family physician.  A few days later she was found unresponsive, transported to another area hospital where she was properly diagnosed.  Unfortunately, her diagnosis was too late and she remained largely unresponsive until her death the following month at age 49.  The defendant made no offer to settle the case prior to trial.
