Perforation of Bile Duct During Surgical Procedure
Mr. Sowers obtained a $1,039,790 verdict after a nine day trial against a defendant gastroenterologist who perforated the client’s common bile duct while performing a surgical procedure on the client. As a result of the perforation, the client developed two large abscesses and underwent a colostomy, three exploratory laparotomies, removal of parts of his colon, and four months hospitalization with continued pain due to scar tissue and adhesions from the numerous surgeries.
